Turning French!

Lastest update from Happy Daze! (our accountant’s sailing trip!)…….
We left Vannes on 16 July, had a problem with a gust of wind that caught our bow and spun us around when we were in a line of boats going out through a swing bridge (it was like playing dodgems. I had to run around with a fender to keep us off the other boats, no damage done!)

Going out of the Morbihan was great. We went sideways at 11 knots and then the tide turned and spat us out going the right way. We spent the night at Port Haliguen, just across the bay.

We motored to Port Lois near Lorient on 17th; very friendly and helpful marine staff. The port was a walled citadel. In the evening we went to a local display of traditional dancing, but every dance looked the same with a ring of people going round in circles, it was advertised as a spectacular!

On Monday 19th we sailed to Loctudy, which is where we are now. It’s a very pretty place. We found a fish market in the evening and bought some longustine for tea. On the boat next door a man was playing his accordion and the view was beautiful; a perfect evening. This morning we went to the local market, where I bought rather a lot of cheese. As my French is terrible it cost €25, but luckily it’s very tasty and we ate a lot of it on the walk back. So tonight for dinner we will be having moules, longustine, oysters, cheese, bread and wine. I think we have turned French.
